GREEN BAY – A members-only boat club has launched at Green Bay’s South Bay Marina.
Nautical Boat Club-Green Bay, Steve Lang, location manager, said, provides members with close access to the Bay of Green Bay, Lake Michigan and the Fox River.
“The Green Bay location is Nautical’s 26th national location and the second club in Wisconsin – the other being (in) Prescott,” he said. “It’s a big deal for Nautical. The company is one of the premier boat clubs in the country. Nautical put in a lot of research on whether or not Green Bay would be a good fit. It was a big deal when they decided to partner with us in Green Bay. It’s like when Cadillac decides to sell a car in your dealership.”
Though the location opened in early May, Lang said the legwork for Nautical Green Bay “goes back quite a bit before I was employed here.”
“Our general manager in Green Bay had been in discussions with the folks at Nautical for a couple of years,” he said.
Lang said Nautical’s grand opening garnered a good turnout – which he said he hopes in generates interest.
“We all know in Wisconsin, we hit it hard from Memorial Day to Labor Day with being on the water – we’re now hitting the water running,” he said.
More on Nautical
Founded more than two decades ago, Lang said Nautical provides a boating experience and an alternative to renting, leasing or buying a boat.
“Membership offers unlimited access to our fleet of boats – including yachts and pontoons – and limitless use of a full stock of complimentary water toys,” he said. “Monthly dues also cover all expenses except for gas – including insurance, maintenance and slip fees.”
Now, Matt Bauer, first-time Nautical Boat Club owner, said, “is the time to join Nautical.”
“Summer will be here before you know it,” he said. “It’s time to make the most of our warm-weather months. We invite all Northeast Wisconsin boating enthusiasts to give us a call and come for a tour today.”
Price-way, Lang said Nautical is comparable to your average golf country club.
“You’re getting tee times on a golf course, but in our ‘country club,’ you’re getting time on our boats,” he said. “We also have all the legally required safety gear on board. When a member makes a reservation, they note what toys they want. When they get here, the boats are all set up and ready to go.”
According to Nautical Green Bay’s website (nauticalboatclub.com), the one-time, up-front payment is $6,000 and then $450 a month after that for monthly dues.
Lang said membership can also be used in any of the other 25 Nautical locations around the country.
“Members can keep two reservations on the books at any time,” he said. “As soon as customers return a boat, they are free to make another reservation. You can do three visits at any other Nautical Club per year. You’ll have to call them ahead of time – every location has its own boats. If you head to Key West, Florida, you have the option of getting on one of our boats.”
Lang said Nautical boats are never more than two or three years old.
“We are required to do that as a franchise,” he said. “
More on the Green Bay site
Tom Gardiner, Nautical owner since 2012, said, the company is excited to launch Nautical Boat Club in Green Bay.
“Wisconsinites love our Prescott location, so we’re excited to extend the opportunity to experience boat life – the ultimate in boating ease, service, luxury and fun – to Northeastern Wisconsin,” he said.
Nautical’s new location is at the South Bay Marina, located at 101 Bay Beach Road – which Lang said features direct access to the Bay of Green Bay and the Fox River.
The facility also has a swimming pool, a covered pavilion with grills and picnic tables, manicured grounds and shower, restroom and laundry facilities.
“Whether you want to do a DIY picnic, visit the marina’s Captain Jack’s Poolside Bar and Restaurant or Paradise North Distillery – or explore dining and entertainment along the Fox River – there’s no better launch locale than South Bay Marina,” Bauer said. “The river, the bay, Lake Michigan – and its many inland waterways all offer ample opportunities for recreational boating fun.
Bauer said Northeast Wisconsin features some of the country’s best fishing.
“From walleye to sportfish to bass – ideal waters for skiing, tubing and other sports and wonderful views when you feel like just cruising,” he said.
