STURGEON BAY –  PortSide Builders was recently honored with the Wisconsin Builders Association (WBA) Badger Craftsman Award in the New Home Design and Construction ($500,000-$750,000) category.

The statewide competition is open to all members of the WBA, which has almost 900 builder members with approximately 2,500 associate members.

WBA Director of Communications Alicia Naleid said build projects are judged on design, quality of construction, attention to detail, use of materials, price to value, functionality and creativity.

“Our members are true professionals and experts at their craft,” Naleid said. “We are excited to have this opportunity for the public to weigh in on their favorites and to show off the details and features of home-building projects all across the state.”

The award-winning PortSide custom-built home is situated on a waterfront property – a private peninsula offering panoramic views of the Bay of Green Bay.

Alan Shefchik, PortSide’s custom home designer, said it was designed and positioned to take advantage of the views from nearly every room in the house.

Shefchik said PortSide worked closely with the homeowners to design a home that aligned with their vision, accommodated a waterfront lifestyle and met their needs for space and functionality.

“We had to stay within the footprint of the former family cottage,” he said. “Taking into consideration zoning and setback requirements, along with the beautiful views, we designed a home that showcases all the best this lot has to offer. To be recognized among some of the best in the state with the Badger Craftsman Award is truly an honor.”
