GREEN BAY – Wello – which established Brown County’s first measures of resident health and well-being through a survey and panel study following the same residents over time to see changes in well-being – recently celebrated its five years in existence.

“Well-being is a collective framework that wraps around individuals and communities to ensure their basic needs are met while closing the gaps in the systems and structures that perpetuate those needs,” Natalie Bomstad, executive director, said. “People and communities are not one dimensional, nor should our approaches to addressing the challenges they are experiencing.”

Bomstad said well-being is about ensuring all people have access to several things.

“They should have access to safe, affordable housing; nutritious, healthy food to be able to learn and work; reliable transportation; safe neighborhoods; economic means to support their families; strong, inclusive social networks; healthy, sustainable environments and more,” she said. “It is how we do this work together that matters.”

As Wello looks toward the future, Bomstad said the organization is excited to announce the public-facing portion of its Sustaining Investment Campaign to continue financially supporting Wello’s work.

“If the vision of a thriving community for generations resonates with you, we invite you to join the well-being movement through a financial gift that is meaningful to you personally or through your company,” she said. “This locally developed Wello model has become a national example of the power we have in creating transformational change that endures across generations.”
