PULASKI – Co-owner Nikki Egnarski said The Barn at Sunset Acres provides couples with an all-inclusive wedding venue that blends convenience with a rustic, country atmosphere.

Located at 451 N. Saint Augustine St. on the outskirts of Pulaski, Egnarski said the venue offers space for both ceremonies and receptions, including dinner accommodations for up to 400 guests.

Egnarski said the property also features dedicated bridal and groom suites, along with six on-site cabins for overnight stays.

“We really do like to say it’s a one-stop shop for your wedding day,” she said. “There is a nice, big reception area, we can host 400 guests for dinner and outside there is a ceremony area.”

Egnarski said she estimates that about 95% of couples choose to hold their ceremony on site.

“We can do inside or outside ceremonies – it truly is a year-round wedding venue,” she said.

There is also an outdoor area that Egnarski said is often used for cocktail hour, giving guests a chance to enjoy the scenic surroundings.

“Guests have access to the venue from 8 a.m. to midnight [on the day of an event],” she said.

Egnarski said the venue includes dedicated spaces for both sides of the wedding party – the Bridal Suite – “brides come here to get ready for the wedding and bring their hair and makeup vendors and hang out” – and the upstairs Groom’s Room, which is designed for relaxation ahead of the ceremony.

“Our spacious Groom’s Room offers the perfect place for the groom and his party to unwind before the big moment,” she said. “This space features comfortable seating, a large TV for entertainment and a dart board for a little friendly competition.”

In addition to spaces for the wedding party, Egnarski said guests also appreciate having a place to relax away from the main celebration.

“[Our family room] is extremely popular,” she said. “Grandmas, grandpas, babies, kids – [everyone] loves that room. It’s an extra space for people to escape.”

Though Sunset Acres is not licensed to serve food, Egnarski said the venue has a catering kitchen to accommodate outside vendors.

“Couples can contract with one of our preferred catering partners for the meal,” she said.

To make the experience even more convenient, Egnarski said couples don’t need to worry about lodging.

“If couples book their wedding with us, the newlyweds can stay in a cabin,” she said. “The other five [cabins on the property] are rentable, too. We also Airbnb them, but weddings always come first.”

As an example, Egnarski said with the recent Green Bay Packers and Washington Commanders Thursday Night Football game Sept. 11, they had guests rent the cabins.

“I’d say we are a multi-use venue, but weddings always come first,” she said. “The cabins are smaller – 24 feet by 24 feet – but they have higher ceilings and are very spacious. They have two bedrooms with two queen beds, there is a queen-sized pullout sofa, a fully stocked kitchen, a full fridge, a TV and Wi-Fi. There’s also a firepit on the side.”

Egnarski said the cabins were originally planned as part of phase two of The Barn at Sunset Acres project.

“At the end of the day, we knew the cabins would be a big marketing aspect of the venue – ‘we have lodging on site,’” she said. “We decided we just needed to do everything at once. The cabins have been a great addition because there are a lot of out-of-town guests.”

Not just Wisconsin

Egnarski said The Barn at Sunset Acres has drawn guests from across the Midwest, including Michigan, Iowa, Illinois and throughout Wisconsin.

“Some of the weddings are from couples who are rooted in this area, while others just find us on Google,” she said. “We had a couple from Madison find us and had their wedding here. They didn’t have any ties to Pulaski.”

Though Sunset Acres is busy a lot of weekends throughout the year, Egnarski said she feels the venue is still somewhat of a hidden gem.

“I think part of that is because of the rural nature of where we are,” she said. “I think couples really like how spacious it is and the fact they don’t have to go anywhere – it can all be done right here. Even with photographers, there are so many spaces here where great pictures can be taken.”

By the end of 2025, Egnarski said The Barn at Sunset Acres will have hosted 69 weddings.

“In our first year in 2022, we had 15 weddings,” she said. “All of those 15 couples booked with us before we even had a building. In our second year, we had 50 bookings. Friday and Saturday are our most popular days, but we’ve had some Sunday weddings as well.”

Beyond weddings, Egnarski said the venue has also been used for celebrations of life and fundraisers for the Pulaski Community School District.

“It’s getting harder to use the venue for events other than weddings [as we continue to grow in popularity], but we do our best – especially in February and November, which are our slowest months,” she said. “December is also very busy – couples love winter weddings. We have weddings every month of the year.”

With rustic, all-inclusive wedding venues in high demand, Egnarski said The Barn at Sunset Acres is already booking dates into 2027.

“I think we’ve got 10 booked for 2027 already,” she laughed. “We have open dates in 2026.”

Egnarski said it’s a lot of work to coordinate the nearly 70 weddings and other events at The Barn at Sunset Acres, “but we have great partners.”

“All of our kids work here, so it’s been great that way as well,” she said.

With more than 10,000 guests coming through the doors in Sunset Acres’ three years in existence, Egnarski said she and the other owners are glad to be a part of a couple’s special day.

“All of us really enjoy that part of it,” she said. “No two weddings are alike – they’re all unique.”

From idea to reality

Egnarski said The Barn at Sunset Acres was a true ground-up effort, built by her and her husband, Brian, in partnership with Steve Fischer and Jason and Amy McKeefry.

“Ironically, all of our kids played sports together in Pulaski,” she said. “You know how you get together and try to solve all of the world’s problems? In our discussions, we all thought, ‘Pulaski needs a wedding venue.’ Pulaski used to have a banquet hall, but that burned down 20 years ago.”

When discussions became “real,” Egnarski said the idea of building a barn-looking venue rose to the top.

“There is just nothing really in this immediate area as far as wedding venues are concerned,” she said. “That’s literally how this whole thing started in February/March of 2021. We broke ground six months later in September and hosted our first wedding June 17, 2022.”

Egnarski said because plans were thought up during the tail end of the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic, they tried to work fast to bring their dreams to fruition.

“Luckily, I think we only had one small issue with flooring [because of supply and demand], otherwise, everything pretty much went as planned,” she said.

Set on 35 acres – with 12 of those devoted to the venue and cabins – Egnarski said Pulaski officials had initially earmarked the property for a business park.

“It sat for sale for 10 years,” she said. “Nobody had put a bid on it, so when we thought up the idea of building a wedding venue, we first had to find some property. After doing some walk-throughs, we knew this was the spot we wanted. It’s worked out really well.”
