WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Mid-State Technical College’s Tree Tech 2025 held at its Wisconsin Rapids Campus late last year, gave high school juniors and seniors – as well as Mid-State arboriculture students, alumni and industry partners – a full day of hands-on training and direct exposure to arboriculture careers.

“This day is truly one of a kind,”  Alex Lendved, dean of Mid-State’s Marshfield Campus and School of Applied Technology, said.

Lendved said participants moved through skills stations focused on chainsaw safety, cutting techniques, tree climbing, plant and tree identification and bucket truck operation – receiving hands-on experience right alongside the best in the business.

“Tree Tech opens students’ eyes to just how far this career can take them,” she said.

Lendved said the annual event helps address workforce needs in a field experiencing high demand across commercial, utility, municipal and conservation sectors.

Exposure to real-world techniques and professional arborists, she said, gives students a clearer understanding of available career paths and required skills.

The event, Lendved said, continues to grow as a regional hub for education-industry collaboration and workforce development in arboriculture.

Tree Tech 2026, she said, is scheduled for Nov. 6.
