NEW FRANKEN – At Leviospa, Owner Hannah Buth said flow isn’t just a feeling – it’s the foundation.

Soft lighting, the sound of water and intentional design, Buth said, set the tone as she guides clients toward rhythm, release and reset.

It’s all part of what she said she calls “approachable luxury,” a philosophy that shapes every detail of her New Franken-based business.

“I believe in approachable luxury, where an elevated environment meets intentional, personalized service,” she said. “My goal is to create an experience that feels elevated, yet genuine and welcoming.”

Buth said Leviospa (pronounced “leh-vio” spa), which opened in August 2025, is among the first in the Greater Green Bay area to offer the emerging head spa experience, combining scalp care, water therapy and full-body relaxation.

The concept, she said, has gained momentum nationwide amid a booming wellness industry, social media buzz and a stronger focus on scalp health.

Though Buth said for her, the work is less about trends and more about alignment.

She said her initial vision for the business centered on a head spa, though she expected facials to play a larger role.

So, instead, Buth said she followed the “flow” of client demand, allowing the most popular services to naturally shape the spa’s direction.

“I regularly come back to the idea of ‘flow’ as it’s important in all my services,” she said. “Everyone is so different in how they relax and how they slow down their brains. Understanding flow is unique to each person, and I [provide services] that ultimately create great results for people.”

What to expect

Buth said that individualized “flow” becomes clear in the experience itself.

Clients, she said, begin with a personalized consultation, discussing pressure preferences, scent sensitivities and expectations, before settling into Leviospa’s dimly lit, heated treatment space.

From there, Buth said she walks them through what to expect, including the movement of the signature “water halo” and the transitions between treatments.

Clients change into robes, wrap themselves in warm blankets and settle in for a service she said is designed to quiet both body and mind.

For head spa services, Buth said the water halo is central to the experience.

“The water halo is over you, and it’s all focused on lessening thoughts and [creating] deep relaxation,” she said.

Buth said she offers three core head spa services: an express service focused on the scalp and two others that lean into a more full-body experience that includes a foot massage and/or hand massage and neck, chest and shoulder massage.

At the center of the experience, however, is the scalp, which she said makes the service unique.

“It’s hard to find a service that’s so focused on the scalp,” she said. “We hold a lot of tension in our scalp.”

That’s also why water therapy is central to the service, Buth said, with clients often remarking on the soothing sound of the water.

“My focus is on providing a safe space for people to relax,” she said. “In the world we live in, our brains are so busy, and it’s neat to see the release in people who have an hour or an hour and a half of time to release their thoughts.”

Though head spa treatments are the main draw, Buth said Leviospa also provides skincare services, often bundled into a single visit for a full-body reset.

She said her second most in-demand service is dermaplaning – an exfoliation treatment that removes vellus hair, dead skin cells and trapped makeup, which is especially popular when paired with the head spa.

“The luxe head spa with the exfoliation is like an instant glow, and you get the relaxation,” she said.

Buth said she also uses professional skincare products in both her services and retail offerings, including the Colorescience line, noting strong demand for its tinted sunscreen.

Finding direction

Buth said the path to Leviospa, however, wasn’t quite so linear.

Before launching her own business, she said she worked at a Manitowoc medical spa, building a client base while learning the pace and structure of medical aesthetics.

Buth said she’s grateful for the experience, but as the only non-medical practitioner, it also clarified what she wanted next.

“I was able to grow my own clientele there and step into my niche – what I am good at and what I enjoy,” she said. “I quickly learned that area of the industry is not my area [of expertise], as it’s very fast-paced. I love the relaxation piece, though I didn’t know that then.”

Buth said that realization came after a broader career shift.

She said she spent years in corporate hospitality before pursuing esthetics, and while in school, she worked locally to gain hands-on experience.

Buth said she wasn’t sure where her career would land, but knew she wanted to eventually build something of her own.

That opportunity, she said, came quickly and unexpectedly.

“When I was in school, I didn’t feel what I now know was my passion,” she said. “I knew throughout school I wanted to have my own business, but the medspa was not my plan. Then my business partners – who I knew throughout life – said they would invest in me. And how could I say no? They took a leap of faith in me, and it’s a team that’s built perfectly for me. They are also small business owners, and that’s incredible – I have these resources that create an incredibly growth-minded team I’m so grateful for.”

Buth said her partners – Greg Makos, Katie Hansen, Krista Makos and Katie Yeager – each bring different skills and perspectives to the business.

She said she describes them as both investors and ongoing advisors, helping guide decisions around growth, quality and future expansion.

“It’s going really well, and being a part of such a growth-minded team, conversations naturally begin with how we can grow,” she said. “I don’t know what I did to earn four angel humans, but it’s cool to have investors who want you to grow.”

Buth said the business operates out of a shared beauty space in New Franken, alongside other independent providers offering services such as hair extensions, color, permanent makeup and nail care.

She said the collaborative setting allows her to maintain independence while benefiting from a built-in network of small business peers.

Buth said even the name Leviospa reflects that collaborative, somewhat serendipitous origin.

“One of my partners [received a head spa treatment] before we started this and was in a room that had a gold cage in it – she loves Harry Potter,” she said. “She knew I wanted a name that was strong, and she brought forward ‘Leviospa’ as a [take on the ‘wingardium leviosa’ spell from the movie].”

Buth said she pondered it for about a week before realizing how well it fit her vision and how excited she was about it.

“The definition is all about elevating and rising up, and that fits,” she said.

As the head spa category grows, Buth said differentiation comes down to intention.

“The head spa industry on the outside can look the same,” she said. “But each has its own ritual and niche, and there is so much beauty in that. I dig deep into the relaxation – many you’ll find go more into the scalp health route. I tell clients it’s not that I don’t love your scalp, but I focus on the deep relaxation and how unique each [experience] can be.”

Buth said her focus appears to be resonating, as Leviospa draws clients from across the region, including Luxemburg, Algoma, Sturgeon Bay and Manitowoc.

Weekends, she said, tend to draw guests from a longer distance away.

Buth said she is also seeing new trends emerge, including clients booking in pairs for “girls’ day” experiences, rotating through appointments while the other relaxes in the spa’s cozy lobby with a blanket.

Marketing those experiences, she said, has taken an unexpected turn.

Though the brand promises luxury, Buth said its social media leans into humor, relatability and personality, often featuring her and her partners in lighthearted, trend-driven videos.

“When we started, I had this [vision] of these luxurious videos, and we have a few of those, but after we did one funny, trending video, it just performed,” she said. “You start to understand, ‘This is what people want.’ They want to see the personality behind the business, and I’m really proud of how I’ve been able to show up on socials in a very approachable way. And when you walk in this space, you can trust it will be an elevated experience. I am very proud of the brand we have built for ourselves.”

Still, Buth said the most powerful marketing tool remains word of mouth, particularly for a service many clients don’t fully understand until they experience it themselves.

“I frequently hear, ‘I felt like I was floating,’” she said. “And often, when I transition from the scalp to the foot massage, I hear about full body tingles or, ‘I didn’t know what this was, and now I get it, and I understand it.’”

Buth said it means a great deal to her when clients then share their experience with friends and family.

“Being so new in the industry, it’s definitely a game changer when people hear about [you] from others,” she said.

Buth said for her, the most meaningful moments come at the end of each appointment, when the impact of that carefully created “flow” becomes visible.

“What’s most rewarding is entering the room after the client has gotten dressed and seeing a different person because of how they have been impacted,” she said. “It’s the impact that this can have on people, especially moms. Life is heavy for many of us, and I have found this purpose… These services are so deep and so real, and that’s definitely my favorite part.”
