FOND DU LAC – The Agnesian HealthCare Foundation has donated $10,000 to support the Reach Out and Read program, helping place age-appropriate books into the hands of pediatric patients at SSM Health Fond du Lac Regional Clinic.
SSM Health Internal Medicine Physician Brenda Grass said the program provides books to children from birth through age five during well-child visits, encouraging families to read together at home as part of early childhood development.
“Reading aloud to young children is one of the simplest and most effective ways to support brain development, language skills and emotional bonding,” she said.
Grass said research shows early reading supports language development, school readiness and parent-child connection.
Mason Gravelle, philanthropy director for the Agnesian HealthCare Foundation, said the gift, made through its unrestricted fund, reflects its ongoing commitment to supporting family health and early learning initiatives in the Fond du Lac area.
“By funding books for children ages zero to five, we are helping families build strong foundations for learning,” he said.
