DOOR COUNTY – Door County Medical Center (DCMC) recently achieved a pretty significant milestone: 1,000 robotic-assisted surgeries using the da Vinci Xi Surgical System.

Dr. Elizabeth Gaida said robot-assisted surgery offers patients smaller incisions, less pain and faster recovery times.

The advanced 3D visualization, Gaida said, enhances precision and leads to more efficient procedures with less bleeding, leading to “patients going home sooner and with less pain, resulting in a quicker recovery.”

Dr. Michael St. Jean said the milestone bears broad significance.

“For a small, rural hospital, achieving this level of innovation is remarkable,” St. Jean said. “The robotic program at DCMC combines cutting-edge technology with personalized care, which is not something you find everywhere, even in large medical centers.”
