BROWN COUNTY — Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach and Brown County Acting Treasurer Charles Mahlik are encouraging county taxpayers who are behind on their property tax bills to apply for the Wisconsin Help for Homeowners program.
According to the Brown County Treasurer’s Office, there currently are 764 properties with delinquent taxes, totaling $3.4 million.
Of those, 330 properties are residential homes.
“Help is available for county taxpayers looking to settle this kind of debt,” Mahlik said. “Since the program started in March 2022, the program has assisted 169 homeowners who have received more than $1.7 million in assistance.”
Application and eligibility details are available at doa.wi.gov.
Applications will be accepted until the funding runs out.
